Episode 13 - Daniel
In episode 13 of The Shuffle Curious Podcast, we delve into our first episode to start off our crew series with SideShowShufflers (SSS)! We looked into Daniel Burgess' story, the founder of SSS.
Daniel found EDM through Dance Dance Revolution and anime, and by 2014, Daniel had discovered shuffling while working at a local club. It instantly captivated him. He knew he had found something special and became a student of the dance.
However, Daniel's early experiences with shuffling weren't all smooth sailing. He recounts a time when he was met with disappointment and exclusion from a shuffle circle. Determined to create a more inclusive and positive space, Daniel took it upon himself to start a crew that embodied the values he held dear. He envisioned a community that treated others with the respect and kindness they themselves desired, laying the foundation for SSS.
Thus began Daniel's extraordinary journey, traveling across different communities and throughout the United States to spread The Sideshow Shuffleers' message of inclusivity and positivity. Along the way, he faced numerous trials and tribulations, both mentally and emotionally. The ups and downs of life made leading a crew challenging for him.
Despite the challenges, Daniel remains dedicated to the growth and future of SSS. He encourages new members to leave their mark on the crew, fostering an environment where everyone's unique talents can shine. Furthermore, he actively seeks out new leaders who can rise to the occasion, ensuring that the crew's legacy continues to flourish.

Daniel Burgess, Leader and Founder of SideShowShufflers. Active in the shuffling and EDM scene for 8 years. Born and raised in Napa, Ca. On a continuous mission to bring positivity and encouragement to the shuffle scene, using SSS as a conduit to spread the love of this dance that we all love.
