Episode 18 - John
In this episode of The Shuffle Curious Podcast we had on John DeMatteo, a self-proclaimed nerd who discovered his love for dance through Dance Dance Revolution (DDR). He later got into breakdancing after watching YouTube videos suggested to him, stemming from DDR. He eventually moved to Raleigh, finding himself in the North Carolina breaking scene.
After attending Ultra Music Festival in 2018 and seeing shufflers in action, John wanted to connect with them and started his shuffle journey. In Fall 2020, he met the Mile High Shufflers (MHS) after moving to Denver and continued to level up his skills through shows and festivals he’s been attending up to date..
A significant milestone in his dance journey was the Mile High Shufflers Kill Off shuffle battle, where he surprised himself with his performance. John's passion for dance extends to the vibrant dance community, attending Electric Forest annually and hitting as many shows as he can with MHS in Denver. Outside of dance, John enjoys the outdoors and always finds time to go camping with his buddies in upstate New York annually.
Bio:
John, aka ‘Jin’, is a local to Denver and is a huge fan of trance, house, techno, and various other flavors of edm. He is very passionate about dancing and partakes in bboying and shuffling. Jin loves footwork and has many friends. Being a Network Admin pays the bills and fuels his shenanigans.
