Episode 9 - Charles
In this episode of The Shuffle Curious Podcast, I had the pleasure of chatting with Charles Lopez, also known as Bambi, from New York City. He grew up in Queens and now resides in Staten Island. Charles has a deep love for dancing and started off as a breakdancer, but found his way into shuffling at festivals where he was performing and received free tickets. This opened up a whole new world of music and expression for him.
Charles talks about how he connected with the shuffle community and made some special bonds along the way. He draws similarities and differences between the shuffle and breaking communities. Along his shuffled journey, he found many mentors who taught him new moves and techniques.
One of the things that really helped Charles level up in his shuffling was attending live music events. The raw energy of the crowd and the music helped channel new movement and inspiration. Charles also talks about the battle mindset and different strategies to consider when going into a battle.
In addition to his love for shuffling, Charles also has a passion for DJing and producing music. He found mentors who helped him learn how to mix and fell in love with mixing hard techno. He believes that dance may not always be feasible, but sharing music with others is something that can happen for the rest of your life.
At the heart of it all, Charles emphasizes that it's all about the people he surrounds himself with and loves. We had an amazing time talking and I learned so much about his journey in the dance and music world. Tune in to this episode for Charles' story!
