Special Episode - FTS ShuffleCon
Welcome to a special mini-episode of The Shuffle Curious Podcast! In this episode, I had the privilege of interviewing the FTS organizers behind the first ever Shuffle Conference in the United States, also know as ShuffleCon. I spoke with Manny, Adam, and Susie at the Flow Complex, where they shared the conception and evolution of ShuffleCon from the FTS Battlegrounds.
ShuffleCon was born out of a deep passion for shuffling and a desire to create a unique gathering hub for shufflers from all over the nation. The FTS team planned every aspect, from finding the perfect location and venue to carefully considering the event through a shuffler's eyes. They wanted to ensure that the conference provided not only a space for shufflers to showcase their skills but also an educational experience for attendees.
However, as with any ambitious undertaking, not everything went according to plan. The team faced unexpected challenges, but their resourcefulness and ability to adapt allowed them to overcome obstacles that arose along the way. This episode speaks to the behind-the-scenes preparations, highlighting the dedication and resilience required to make ShuffleCon a success.
The impact of ShuffleCon on the shuffle community cannot be overstated. It served as a powerful validation of the dance form and showcased the immense talent within the United States. Moreover, the event proved to be a proof of concept, demonstrating that large-scale events like this can be organized successfully, attracting passionate shufflers from all corners of the country.
Looking to the future, FTS aims to expand the reach of ShuffleCon by inviting the international shuffle community to future events. This initiative will provide an opportunity for shufflers from around the world to represent their nations and share shuffling on a global stage!
