Zach speaks with Mark Scheeren. Mark is an addiction expert. He is the coauthor (with Steven Slate and Michelle Dunbar) of "The Freedom Model For Addictions" and the founder of The Freedom Model Retreats. He is also founder of The Baldwin Research Institute.
Today we talk about the utility as well as the limitations of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
Mark says there is plenty of reason to believe that much of what we hear about the MAT movement is grounded in mythology-- we talk about what he means by that.
In the coming episodes we will hear from people with a variety of perspectives on medication management (and not only medication used to treat addictions) so stay tuned!
