Simon Guillebaud explores how Israel sought a king when Samuel's own sons did not follow their father's way. In their dismay at Samuel's sons, Israel's elders overlooked the Lord's warning in Deuteronomy 17:15 to choose the King He would appoint, while Samuel bore the sadness of his sons' apostasy. Considering Samuel's dismay, Simon quoted another Samuel, Samuel Chadwick, "It is wonderful what God can do with a broken heart if He gets all the pieces."
