Hi Podfans
We're powering our PSP and PS Vita this week with two games that have a bit of genre fusion occurring...
Over in 'PSP Plaza' we have Half Minute Hero (2009, PSP), a part RPG, RTS, SHMUP and action adventure all thrown into one title. Fazz has never really played anything like it on the PSP before and well... we're not sure he's played a better game on the PSP... ever!
Managing to cram so many genre twists into a 12 hour handheld experience indicates someone used their time better in the game development than the Time Goddess does just raking in the moolah and abusing our heroes.
Meanwhile on 'PS Vita Vista', we're increasingly concerned about the depth of the console's back catalogue. Thankfully, Rich seems to have sourced a very good genre mashup game in the guise of sidescrolling/Beat 'em up/RPG remake Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir (2016, PS Vita).
Odin Sphere was released in 2007 in the death throes of the PS2 era but it was deemed worthy enough to receive a shiny upgrade for the next generation nine years later. The game garnered very positive reviews at the time of release across all consoles. Does Rich think that it is a well rounded experience worth having in his hands?
Enjoy the pod.
