TheNineToFivers are back and in a shiny new studio. So much has happened in the time away, from Will and Jada to Tory and Megan. From sexual expose lists to the rebranding of Aunt Jemima. 2020 is the gift that keeps giving. Black lives still matter and corona virus just won’t go away. It is only right that these topics are touched on as TheNineToFivers catch up and get reacquainted with the each other and the audience. The TV show I will destroy you, seemed to arrive just in the right climate as women’s rights have been rightly put to the forefront in recent times. Men especially have been forced to pay attention in lockdown conditions and the details not often taken into account, have been highlighted in a way that not only educates but entertains too. In a way these small details are missed in all aspects of life and it is not a problem unique to the common folk, as seen with the music industry where contracts are often not read or fully understood. Is this due to lack of care or does the enticement of what is being offered just override the rational part of the brain.  The brain is powerful but sometimes it is led by emotion to devastating effect. In Wiley’s Anti-Semitic outburst he shocked and upset many people and his legacy seemed to be tarnished. Or has it? Was the blocking of all his social media and Youtube account a proportionate punishment? Has the same energy been applied to all hate speech? Maybe in fact, Wiley has become a martyr for a cause that highlights the disparity in responses for one type of hate speech compared to others. Make sure to stay tuned because all these topics and more are discussed this lively comeback edition of TheNineToFivers Podcast.
