Quotes. We hear them all the time, most go in one ear and out the other but on occasion there are a few that stick out and become mantras that we live by at the places we spend the most time at be that home school or work. By the time people are of working age statistically for the average person work is where most of your day is spent. This can lead to a work family being formed from work mum and dads that look out for you and help you out like your parent would to people of similar age becoming work wives or husbands. Supposedly work environments are happier when you have these close relationships however is there any danger of lines being blurred with so much time being spent together? For the single folk there is no issue, but it starts getting sticky when people with partners and spouses become too comfortable with their work colleagues of the opposite sex. Marriage itself is viewed negatively amongst a growing number of people but what are the reasons? Are there too many bad examples from celebrity couples to people's personal lives. Is the destructive nature of divorce off putting especially for men? Why do so many marriages struggle? In fact, why do so many relationships struggle to last the distance? Are we complicit by simply not looking beyond the superficial surface of the people we choose to date? Are we guilty of trying to mould people into holes they don't fit? Whatever it is, there are numerous marriages and relationships that do work out and for a lot of people the next steps tend to be kids but with the average cost of a kid ranging between £100-200k are people still willing to have lots of children? With both genders focusing on careers, is the status quo of old being removed? Black people emboldened by the continual injustices around the world are now speaking up in an outward manner and forcing light to topics that too often have been condemned to the darkness.
