It is the last year of the month and what a year it has been 2020 is the year that just keeps on subverting expectations and there will undoubtably be more twists and turns to come. The one constant you can count on in December however is Christmas and for many the shopping has already commenced but how soon is too soon? One thing that is too expensive for a lot of people’s Christmas lists are houses but relocation is a daunting task for many. Starting in an entirely new network can prove more difficult and uncomfortable than first imagined. How do you make friends as an adult? It is certainly easier for outgoing people compared to conservative people but can be awkward either way but sometimes you have to do unconventional things to create the environment you want for yourself. There has been an argument of late that men are not conventional as they used to be, that the masculine man is being lost. Are typical ideas of masculinity correct in this day and age or do they need to evolve with the times? Regardless life as a man comes with pressures that are often overlooked and downplayed because men are supposed to suck it up and deal with it and in doing so, it often leaves men with a range of damaging feelings and emotions that are unaddressed and unresolved. It can manifest in a whole range of negative contexts from addiction to suicide, from resentment to inadequacy so often men feel forced to adopt a façade to appear more together than they are.
