Months and months go by and we are now in March but the rules still stay the same. The only problem is that there seems to be one rule for the rich and famous and another rule for everybody else. How else can Prince Charles visit to his father be explained or how else can Matt Hancock’s crimes not land him in jail? The rich exploit the poor and rich countries have exploited poorer countries throughout history. Luckily there were a group of individuals who fought for their country’s liberties and succeeded and with Ghana independence now looming the question arises what does Independence Day signify to the diaspora? Is it just another day to party? To feel connected to the motherland. Or is the deep historical context understood and celebrated? Throughout time the works of entrepreneurs have been celebrated and highlighted but quite often their precious ideas have been stolen by those more powerful and richer entities. How can you stop bigger companies from ripping your idea? There are a few tips that can help but, in most cases, the bigger fish will find a way of ripping ideas. Should that stop people from trying altogether though? No! Innovation, creativity and competition drive society forward and we have seen it with the battle between the social media giants, the tech companies and the behemoth Amazon and all its various branches. Things always change and so do laws. In China a partner can now be compensated if they were the primary care giver or did all the housework. Will this be expanded in other countries soon? The UK has drawn a lot of inspiration from the US over the years but is it time to put that to bed? Is the culture strong enough to draw influence from other places and still retain identity?
