Today’s guest is an old friend, Matt Radley. Matt is deputy head of an independent school.

In this conversation, Matt discusses his professional journey - a lack of career plan, stumbling into a job in banking in the early 2000s before following a passion for history that led him to retrain as a teacher at the age of 30. He shares lessons learned on his journey, particularly the importance of uncovering his values (or non-negotiables, as he calls them) as vital tools for navigating life’s ups and downs.

We talk about big issues facing society and teenagers today. The polarization of viewpoints, a collective inability to embrace discourse and emotionally uncomfortable conversations, why Andrew Tate is resonating with young men, and the destructive influence of online porn.

Matt references a TED talk by Dylan Marron, Empathy is Not Endorsement

I want to apologize for mistakenly referencing Cindy Gallop’s business. Her amazing online community is called MakeLoveNotPorn (MLNP) not Choose Love Not Porn; as quoted in this episode.
