Grapefruit is a relatively modern fruit, born from hybridisation of a pomelo and sweet orange in Barbados, where she was nicknamed ‘the forbidden fruit of Barbados.’ Her name alludes to the way this fruit grows on the tree, clustering to appear like a bunch of grapes. The fruit is loaded with goodness and renowned for helping break down a range of unwanted elements within your body. When eaten, Grapefruit is known for its tart flavour. However, the essential oil, cold-pressed from the peel, is far sweeter.
