Question: How can we see
revival in our current context?
Thesis: To see revival in our
local setting, amongst our body of believers, we must enter an urgent
commitment to REPENTANCE and embrace a spirit of CONSECRATION; this is the
heart cry to the Holy Spirit, “have your way in me Oh Lord.”
Consecrated (adjective)
: having been consecrated: such as
A : inducted
into a permanent office with a religious rite
B : made or
declared sacred[1]
Jesus
Command for Repentance
14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee,
proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the
kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Mark 1:14-15 ESV
A Cry
for Consecration
V1 Have mercy on me
We are
transgressors, and only by mercy and grace can we be restored.
V2 Wash me, cleanse me
Only when we
can acknowledge our transgressions and repent can we be restored.
V4 Against you, I have sinned
Our sins are against God and
begin to build an inner wall that only God(through Jesus) can remove.
V7 Purge me, and I shall be clean
God is
faithful to remove our blemished coat of transgression, we must be made clean.
V10 Create in me a clean heart, renew a right
spirit within me!
Salvation brings new creation
(2 Cor 5:17). The Holy Spirit’s conviction is in the fruits of salvation.
V12 Restore the joy of your salvation
The God who is faithful to
restore is faithful to deliver until the end of the age. (Matt 28:20, Eph
1:13-14)
A Prayer
for Consecration
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God,
to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which
is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what
is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2 ESV
