Despite any shortcomings and all his failures, according to God, David was a man after His’ own heart. David was the man God had chosen to introduce the familial lines of His future King, the once and for all Messiah (the anointed one), Jesus.
How to Be “A Man After God’s Own Heart” – David
1. Desires what God desires – David longed to do God's will (Psalm 40:8).
8I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart.”
2. Quick to repent – After his sins, David would respond with deep humility and repentance (see Psalm 51).
10Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
3. Trusts God fully – He faced giants, armies, betrayal, and wilderness — and consistently trusted in the Lord. (Psalm 62:5-8)
8O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.
4. Worships passionately – David was a true worshiper (see 2 Samuel 6:14-15, 21-22 and the many Psalms he wrote).
14And David, wearing a linen ephod, danced with all his might before the LORD, 15while he and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and the sounding of the ram’s horn.
21But David said to Michal, “I was dancing before the LORD, who chose me over your father and all his house when He appointed me ruler over the LORD’s people Israel. I will celebrate before the LORD, 22and I will humiliate and humble myself even more than this. Yet I will be honored by the maidservants of whom you have spoken.”
5. Pursues God's presence – David longed to dwell in God's presence (Psalm 27:4).
4One thing I have asked of the LORD; this is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and seek Him in His temple.

Who Is The King Of Your Heart?
If your faith was on trial, if you had to stand behind the evidence of your “Chrisitanity” would there be enough evidence to convict? Or would you be released free and clear?
