"Broken Thrones, Faithful God" Title: "The Throne of Promise”
Key Text: 2 Chronicles 7:11-22 Reading: 2 Chronicles 7 – Ezra 4
Big Idea: God’s promises carry both hope and warning. God's promise is to heal and restore if(and only if) His people repent. His blessing of restoration is tied to obedience, revealing the tension between His faithfulness and our unfaithfulness. Ultimately, His promises find their “Yes” in Christ, the true King and Temple.
V11-12 The Confirmation of the Lord
Teaching Point: God confirms His presence among His people so they might know He is near.
V13-16 The Promise of the Temple (General promise - eternal)
Teaching Point: God promises forgiveness and healing when His people repent.
V17-18 The Promise of the Line of David (Specific promise - Solomon)
Teaching Point: God establishes His kingdom through obedience, ultimately fulfilled in Christ the eternal King.
V19-22 The Warning of the Lord
Teaching Point: God warns that turning from Him leads to ruin but this warning is grace calling us back to Him.
