Get Lit#8/ETHOS#2: BE BAPTIZED Key Passage: Deuteronomy 10:12–22 Title: Mark the Moment
ETHOS#2: BE BAPTIZED – “Going Public with Your Faith” Get Lit Week 8: Num. 32 – Deut. 20
This section bridges Israel’s wilderness journey and their imminent entry into the Promised Land. In Numbers 32–36, two-and-a-half tribes request land east of the Jordan, agreeing to help conquer Canaan. Godreaffirms boundaries, inheritance laws, and provisions for justice (like cities of refuge), showing His concern for order, equity, and holiness.
Deuteronomy is Moses’ final sermon before his death. In chapters 1–3, he retells Israel’s history—highlighting failures and God’s faithfulness. Chapters 4–11 call for wholehearted love and obedience to God, grounded in His covenant love. The Shema (Deut. 6:4–5) becomes the heart of Israel’s identity. Chapters 12–20 outline covenant laws for worship, justice, leadership, and warfare—guiding a holy people in a new land.
Key Theme:
God’s covenant demands love, trust, and obedience. As Moses prepares the people to enter the land without him, we’re pointed to a future Prophet like Moses (Deut. 18:15)—Jesus—who perfectly fulfills the law, leads us into the true Promised Land, and writes His law on our hearts (Jer. 31:33; Heb. 8:6).
