Description

(Hicksy is looking better even though he's getting a lot of grief about his pickleball-related knee injury.)

Gib Staunton, an old friend of Hicksy's, has had a stellar career and a long list of causes that she has supported.

She met the love of her life, Platt Staunton, a widower, in Boston, MA. They moved to Charlottesville in 1994 where she became the admissions director at St. Anne's Belfield, a job that she absolutely loved.

They had two children together and adopted two more children. It was a wonderful life together. Tragically, Platt died suddenly in 2021. It has been difficult without him though her family and friends have helped her cope.

Gib has also started a career coaching business, Staunton Career Advisors, where she works with juniors and seniors in college from around the country. She teaches them time management and assists them with cover letters, résumés, and mock job interviews.

She describes the enormous pressure that this generation is under and how resilience is the key to success (as it is in her own life.) There is also one thing that you cannot give this generation. It has to be earned.

Gib lives in the Charlottesville, VA area and is close to all four of her children, two boys and two girls. She travels often and has a passion for competitive bridge. You can find her at her LinkedIn account.
