Description

Todd Keebs is both an electrical engineer specializing in audio systems and an electronic music DJ with 25 years of experience. His time throwing shows includes the longest running party in Pittsburgh ‘Lazer Crunk.’ Over the past 15 years they have hosted Plastician, Sinjin Hawke, Greg Gillis (Girltalk), Kaytranada, Swindle, Eprom, and more. Along with his partner Geoff ‘Cutups’ he is directly responsible for kindling an underground electronic scene in Pgh largely centered around drum n bass, grime, dubstep, and uk garage. Initially in 2007 however the party was a mashup scene where djs experimented with serato for the first time matching rap acapellas with electronic rhythms to generate innovative compositions. He sits with me in the attic for over two hours explaining how it all went down. We also discuss some details of the electrical microphones (MEMS microphones) which he utilizes for his spatial audio arrays at meta, and have a wonderful, congenial digital vs analog debate which threads its way thru most of the episode. #TeamAnalog all day. Throw a rating up or share the episode if you’re feeling it! If you have feedback or questions you can always message me on instagram or twitter @DJBTips or @Crocmode
