Today’s episode is with Andrew and Christine Gervais. Together they founded Cultivate Consulting Co, a full service cannabis business management practice providing specialty accounting solutions, income tax services, CFO and controller services, and business system implementation. When they started in 2019 they sold their traditional client list and were the only firm that was openly working with clients in the space. They also run a traditional homestead where they grow a lot of their own food and take care of goats, ducks, chickens and dogs. Talk about a full house! Andrew is a hunter who helps them source their own meat and Christine is a medicine woman doing her best to provide better solutions to help her family heal.
During this episode we go into depth about the challenges facing cannabis businesses when dealing with the inability to write off business expenses and how 280e came to fruition and the prospect of not having to deal with it in the future. We chat about the stigma still surrounding the plant and how it is marginalized when discussing addiction and other mental health disorders. We talk about homesteading and hunting and how this leads to a happier, more wholesome life.
