Today’s episode is with Mike Labrie. Mike is a restaurateur, a photographer, an artist, a father, and represents a storied seacoast family who has brought us a lot of what we enjoy today. This includes sponsoring the Prescott Parks Art Festival and The Labrie family skate at Puddle Dock Pond at Strawberry Banke in addition to the well known establishments - The Atlantic Grill, The River House, The Water View Grille and Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club.
During the show we talk about Mike’s origins as an artist which involves the great lighting department at his high school and his grandmother's love for art. We discuss the Gallery at Jimmy’s and his vision for new art.He tells me how a lot of his success has come down to working in tandem with his brother, Peter, by allowing each other to do what they excel at and focusing on providing the best experience for their patrons. He gives me the full story on Jimmy’s and how it has become the number one Jazz club to play in the country. And we discuss how important giving back to the arts is for businesses to be impactful and successful within their communities.
