In this episode with Rebecca Simmons, we discuss her journey from being a yoga teacher to entering the jungle and finding her true calling as a psychedelic assisted therapist. These days there are a lot of people who say that they are on this path - Rebecca is living it. After an experience in 2015 she set out on a track that culminated in getting her M.A in clinical psychology and becoming a licensed psychotherapist. My favorite part of this story is that Rebecca got guidance from the medicine (Ayahausca) for the last time in 2019 and has been integrating since. We discuss other psychedelics and their potentially earth shattering potential in Rebecca's field.

We talk about how Rebecca incorporates the client centered approach model, which includes tenets of unconditional positive regard, genuineness and authenticity, into her practice. Additionally, We talk about the benefits of therapy and the importance of being able to model a healthy nervous system for your patients. We dive into the potential barriers that the medical model has on the way of taking plants, and psychedelics not being a silver bullet.
