In our discussion of fathers on Father’s Day, we studied several verses and ideas from the book of Hebrews. Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. Here the author of Hebrews calls us to fix our thoughts on Jesus. Later, and more famously, he calls us to Fix your eyes on Jesus… (Hebrews 12:2) . One keyword in both verses is the word fix. The Greek word translated as fix is defined as focus, to turn the eyes away from other things and focus or fix them on something.” How important do you think it is to focus your thoughts on Jesus?
