Hi friends! I am Ann Eileen Thompson and this is the Faith Driven Leader Podcast, where we equip and embolden one another toward a career and a life built on deep trust in our good Father God. Our guest today is Dr. Merary Simeon. Merary is an experienced Human Resources executive, most recently having led Global Diversity Equity & Inclusion at Pepsico. She is a trusted advisor, a best-selling author, and co-CEO of Zera Consulting, which equips organizations, multicultural women, and their leaders with skills and strategies needed to create inclusive cultures. She co-hosts the What Rules?! Podcast. Merary is a new friend, and I have been struck by her boldness to speak about faith in spaces that have felt exclusively secular.
Today we talk about the tension of living by faith at work without imposing our values on other people.
I love Merary’s boldness to be her full self and let her faith drive her leadership in a corporate setting! She is full of stories of God’s faithfulness and His ways making a way for Himself to be glorified in the marketplace.
My challenge for you today is twofold:
First, if you are hiding your faith in a closet, I want to encourage you to invite God to give you an opportunity to share your faith - in His timing, when HE opens a door. Not in a pushy way, not to convert or even influence someone, but simply to be more “you” at work than you’ve been up to this point. Then, listen and look for a door to open, and then step out and tell someone that your faith in Jesus is the catalyst to your values, your behaviors, your definition of success - whatever is relevant in the moment…you’ll know it when you get there! Second, if there is someone that you need to forgive at work? Are you reacting to someone each time you walk by then, or find yourself dreading meetings they’ll be at? If you have been hurt by a coworker or client, you may need to sit down with the Lord and let him speak to your heart. Release them from the debt of how they hurt you, so that you can live in freedom. The more I forgive others, the more confident and at peace I become. How can you reach for peace through forgiveness today?
