Mary Miller is an accomplished leader and the Chair of the Board at JANCOA Janitorial Services, a thriving business that recently celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022. She served, alongside her husband Tony as CEO of Jancoa for many years. She has been honored with prestigious awards such as the YWCA Career Woman of Achievement, EY Entrepreneur of the Year – Lifetime Achievement, and the esteemed 2021 “Spirit of America” Award from The Cincinnatus Association. In 2022, she was inducted into both the University of Cincinnati Goering Center for Family Business Hall of Fame and the distinguished Junior Achievement/Cincinnati Museum Center’s Greater Cincinnati Business Hall of Fame.
Remarkably, Mary and Tony built Jancoa from a “mom & pop” shop into a prominent organization.

Mary reminded me today of the call that God has for each of us, especially as leaders, but really all of us to be calling each other UP. Up into our dreams and our capabilities. Up into change that leads to growth. Up into who God made each of us to be, in His own image.
So, my challenge to you today is to consider identifying a few folks on your team that you can start talking to differently. Ask about their dreams and aspirations, beyond work even. Then, learn about the obstacles that are getting in their way and consider how you might help, or connect them with the right help. Live out more of your own calling as a leader to serve, encourage, affirm, and lift up those that work with you.
