Description

Marie Suazo, Filipina by birth, author of Tales of a Diplomat's Daughter is the podcast host of Talks with a TCK Friend. Drop what you are doing and listen to her now. In this double set of episodes, they first discuss the ridiculous question and her adjustment to the Philippines.

In this episode, they start off talking about the confidence Marie has developed in her journey to becoming a brilliant podcast host and voice for TCKs (3:10).

They discuss whether or not they have a right as TCKs to complain (6:00) and coming from a different world.

Of course Mike presses Marie to answer the ridiculous question (8:05) Marie pops off her long list of moves around the world with her family.  She talks about which country she relates to the most (9:25). Mike has some fondness for the same country as well.

Fun fact. Lena Lee (author of Girl Uprooted) was on Marie’s podcast, two diplomat daughters comparing notes and books! (10:30). Be sure to check that out.

Marie is now in the Philippines (12:00) and she AND Mike are figuring out what they are going to do next.

Finally, Mike and Marie discuss the positives and negatives of being in the Philippines.(14:40). We get into traffic, ‘Bali-Bali’ culture, and classism in a post-colonial era.

Stay tuned for the BONUS ROUND episode as we talk in depth about her journey as a diplomat's daughter and more.
