We will discuss Second Look Sentencing (SLS) in this episode. SLS is a hybrid sentencing that allows the offender to petition the sentencing judge or court to review his current sentence for potential reduction through a re-sentencing proceeding after serving a specified number of years.
Re-sentencing may be based on the offender's rehabilitation and change while incarcerated. It can also be based on new science, changes within the criminal justice system, a fundamentally unfair and harsh sentence, or an injustice.
