For White Americans, the Fourth of July represents freedom in all it’s forma. But for Black Americans, that same holiday means nothing more than a day off from work. Freedom, as White Americans enjoy it, is a notion predicated on the continuous, systemic subjugation of Black Americans at every turn, emotionally, financially, and legally.. What then does this holiday celebrate? And to whom does this freedom apply?
