Genesis 29:1–30, Jacob, the deceiver, meets his match with Laban, his uncle, another deceiver! He gets two wives and two servants out of the deal, but he has to serve Laban for 14 years – twice as long as he originally negotiated! Mark 9:14–32, Jesus’ disciples try to cast out a demon on their own and fail. Jesus is frustrated with the unbelief of his disciples, and for that matter, of the world.
