Description

Sheila discusses the benefits of Affirmative Action and why she believes it is still necessary today. The thought was sparked by a Harvard Philosophy class discussing the topic.

Sheila defines the soul as taught to her By Bishop Clarence Mcclendon. She talks about a soul death that occurs when the heart and soul are not aligned. To align the heart and soul, she discusses different ways that we attempt to avoid doing the work. She says we must address the pain in our lives, we can no longer anesthetize our pain, we have to tackle it head-on and build our strength. Our strength is not to endure more pain, but to equip us to make the choices that lead to a happier life.

She also discussed emotional support is needed from loved ones. At the same time, she says that we are accountable for communicating our needs. Though Bell Hooks suggests solitude may occasionally be necessary, Sheila speaks of balancing support from loved ones and times of isolation.
