Description

In the wake of the devastating May 14th attack on our Black community, this week’s guest Kamilah Whitfield, granddaughter of Ruth E. Whitfield, who was tragically lost in the attack, sprang into action. She founded My Grandmother's Garden, an initiative to establish a community nutrition hub.

Recognizing the persistent issue of food insecurity, particularly prevalent on Buffalo's East Side, Kamilah envisions the hub as a multifaceted solution. Not only will it operate as a grocery store, but it will also serve as a community space. Kamilah's vision extends beyond providing access to fresh and nutritious food; she aims to create employment opportunities, foster employee development, and deliver health and nutrition education.

With host Dejia James, Kamilah delves into her plans for My Grandmother's Garden and shed light on the transformative impact she hopes to achieve. Join us as we explore Kamilah’s journey and the vision behind this remarkable community nutrition hub.
