Description

Moruroa, nicknamed the atoll of the great secret remains to this day a military base, which means that any visit on site is strictly forbidden. And the French nuclear tests happened there, on Moruroa, a place we will probably never be able to visit anymore, but that nonetheless haunts our collective imagination.

As the years go by and the vet of the bomb are leaving, it becomes even more necessary to pay attention to the testimonies of those who were present on the nuclear testing site. They are the first witnesses of the testing. And for them, Moruroa is a part of their lives they had long tried to keep quiet. For many of the workers, Moruroa is associated with their youth. Let us not forget that most of the workers were between 18 and 30 year-old when they left for Moruroa, and some of them were even underaged.

In this episode, 30 years after the end of the nuclear testing period, Moruroa is brought back to life through memories shared by the first witnesses of the testing, their memories are precious memories that may have faded over time but that that still hold the power to bring back to life this page of our history that remains under documented.
