Dom Petruzzelli joins us in the lounge representing the Cabrini soccer team and we put him through our fast five questions, we talk about Dom’s favorite movie franchise and the Pixar theory, Dom goes into his background growing up in Warminster, PA and how he first got into sports, his early days of club soccer and the youth soccer reclassification that impacted recruiting, making deep runs in the club state tournament and winning in a thriller against a local rival to advance to regionals 1:44-25:41
Dom talks his experience playing at Archbishop Wood High School in the Philadelphia Catholic League, his run through the state tournament his senior year after falling in the PCL quarterfinal, confronting a ref at halftime of a dirty game, managing a tough matchup in the state semifinal, and falling in the state championship in Hershey, PA, the challenge with playing under high expectations at Wood 25:41-51:58
We go into Dom’s recruiting experience and how he got in contact with Cabrini, his overnight visit with players and the moment he was able to commit, meeting his roommate for the first time at accepted students day, transitioning to college as a fall athlete being the first students on campus, crushing the beep test during preseason, getting adjusted to the college game and finally breaking the starting lineup in conference play, scoring his first career goal and spraining both his wrists in a matter of 24 minutes, losing a heartbreaker in PKs against Neumann in the conference semifinals 51:58-1:21.33
Dom shares how he got involved around campus so fast as a freshman, putting his name all over the involvement/jobs fair, being nominated for SAAC rep and finding out he is national SAAC rep for the AEC while in South Africa, flying to Indianapolis for the national SAAC conference 1:21.33-1:39.51
