On this episode we’re touched by Tanya’s love for her dead grandmother, how she grieves her, how she keeps her with her. Tanya tells us, “People stay alive if we keep them alive.” She shares some life lessons from her grandparents and how those lessons live on in her.
Tanya Friedman is happiest when she's in the middle of a great book, when she's rearranged words into just the right order, or when she's floating in a cool lake on a hot day. She spends a lot of time thinking about how privilege and access to power shape our inner and outer worlds and what to do about it. Someday soon-ish she's going to finish her memoir about antiracism, compassion, and teaching. Meanwhile, you can find her walking her dog through Brooklyn, reading on the B train, or filled with awe that so much suffering and joy can exist simultaneously in each of us and everywhere.
