Text: Titus 2:1-2, 6-7a
Series: "A Well-ordered Church, For A Disordered World"
Dad jokes are great! Levity, or the ability to “lighten up,” is vital, especially during “heavy” times. Fathers, in particular, need to be able to lead their families through hard seasons; and laughter is a
powerful tool to that end. There are times when (as the saying goes), “If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.” And yet, there is a world of difference
between telling a dad joke, and being a dad joke (or a joke
dad)! As we consider Paul’s instruction for men, in Titus 2, something crucial comes into focus—Men who worship the King of
Kings should, and will, increasingly reflect His likeness, including His
dignity and honor. The inoculant to becoming another stereotypical dad joke (or joke dad) is not to become a self-serious man, but
rather a Christ-revering man.
