Description

Seasonal affective disorder — aka SAD or winter depression — is a type of depression that directly correlates to the changing of the seasons.

SAD can be linked to a biochemical imbalance in the brain prompted by shorter daylight hours and less sunlight in winter. Roughly 13 million people in the US suffer from seasonal depression (mostly women)

Here are some symptoms of the big SAD:

😔 Feelings of depression that happen most of the day, every day, in a seasonal pattern

💤 Tiredness or low energy

🥱 Loss of interest in activities you used to enjoy

⚖️ Changes in appetite or weight gain

🛌 Sleep issues or sleeping too much

I’ve personally experienced SAD every year since moving from Southern California to Northern California, so trust me when I say that I understand the struggle 😅

So if you struggle with SAD, know you’re not alone! AND, know that there are ways to combat your seasonal depression 🙌🏼 because you deserve to feel good all year long!

In this episode, I share more about what exactly SAD is, what causes SAD and my top tips for combatting your symptoms of seasonal depression holistically 🫶🏼
