JOHN FLAVEL
John Flavel (1627–1691) was a notable English Puritan preacher and author known for his influential writings and passionate preaching. He was born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England, and his father was a minister. Flavel began his academic studies at University College, Oxford, but had to leave due to the outbreak of the English Civil War.

Despite the interruption in his formal education, Flavel became a self-taught theologian and a prominent figure among the Puritans. He began preaching in 1650 and served as a Presbyterian minister in Diptford and Dartmouth. Later, he became a Congregationalist, reflecting the diverse theological landscape of his time.
