While sex workers in Austria were living in fear, Jack Unterweger was getting an opportunity that no convicted murderer had gotten before. In the summer of 1991, Jack was hired by the Los Angeles Times to write about crime in Southern California, specifically about Skid Row’s red-light district. When he arrived in LA, the LAPD gave him a ride around the area where he would do most of his research, before he moved into the Cecil Hotel downtown.
