In this edition of POSTBURNOUT.COM Interviews…, we talk with Dr Michael Mary Murphy. Michael is a lecturer in Music Industry, Sociology, Management and Communications at the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design + Technology (IADT), with experience working for major labels, such as Virgin Records and Imago Records, and is the author of various peer-reviewed essays discussing the industry, anthropology, cultural significance, and the history of music and has co-edited several books on music. In this interview, we discuss his recently published book, “Sounds Irish, Acts Global: Explaining the Success of Ireland’s Popular Music Industry,” which uses case studies to document the history of the growth of the music industry in Ireland, and which is co-written by Dublin City University (DCU) communications lecturer and author on the music industry, Jim Rogers.
