In 2018, she was the FIRST WOMAN to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for her work on MUDBOUND. She also shot BLACK PANTER for Marvel okayyyyyyyyyyy??! Her forthcoming film as a director, FLINT STRONG, about boxing phemon Claressa Shields, is highly anticipated. HOWEVER, we're not talking shop or what it's like to be an ICON today. We're talking about the impact of losing both her mother and father at a young age (and as an only child) and how that affected her tenacity, drive and the blurry memory of grief and loss.
