Most educational institutions teach predominantly to just two of the learning styles when there are many more. Because of how the system is configured, this practice lends itself to children being unfairly labeled and made to feel dumb or inept simply because their style may differ and they don't fit into a mold. Discovering your child's learning style is of tantamount importance, whether you are a homeschooling mom like me, or not. All children can learn, you just have to teach them the way they do.
