We are naturally born curious about ourselves, others, and the world, but so often as we grow up, we find ourselves focused on tasks, troubleshooting, and getting through to the next thing. We may see curiosity as something for children, or something frivolous and unproductive to spend any time or energy on.
But there are two lenses we can use for almost any situation that are essentially opposites of one another-- curiosity or judgment. The vast majority utilize judgment and classification of nearly everything (our own thoughts, feelings, actions, behaviors, patterns; others we encounter or are in relationship with; and situations that arise in our daily lives). We classify everything as either good or bad, right or wrong. While this conserves energy for our brain, it has detrimental consequences for us in our personal growth and development journey. Curiosity is a skill that can be practiced on purpose, cultivated, and used more often. We can apply it to literally any situation and find the benefits. Curious to learn more about why this is the case and how to start practicing being more curious on purpose?! :) Tune in!
