Description

In this episode, I chat with Mr. David Conte. Mr. Conte is a celebrated composer with over 150 works to his name, including operas, choral pieces, orchestral works, and chamber music, published by E.C. Schirmer Music Company. His music has been commissioned by prestigious ensembles such as Chanticleer, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, and his opera The Gift of the Magi has been performed over 30 times worldwide. A recipient of numerous honors, including the Raymond Brock Commission from the American Choral Directors Association, Mr. Conti has also co-composed film scores for acclaimed documentaries like Ballets Russes and Orozco: Man of Fire. He studied with Aaron Copland and Nadia Boulanger, earning a Fulbright Fellowship, and currently serves as Professor and Chair of Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Mr. Conte’s music is widely recorded and recognized for its depth and emotional resonance, making him one of America’s leading contemporary composers.
