In this episode, I chat with William Dougherty. Mr. Dougherty is an American composer, sound artist, educator, and writer whose work combines experimental sound practices with a deep engagement in contemporary music. He joined the University of Washington faculty in 2025, and his compositions have been performed by leading ensembles such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Sun Ra Arkestra, and JACK Quartet. A recipient of the Luciano Berio Rome Prize, Mr. Dougherty has also been recognized by institutions including Harvard, Columbia, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
