I interviewed Avi Wolfson. Avi Wolfson leverages a career as a licensed realtor, professional salesperson, 3-time axe throwing champion, and best-selling author to help audiences directly as a professional speaker. Wolfson, an expert in resilience, entrepreneurship, and self-discovery, inspires others with his story of overcoming childhood trauma and mental health challenges and finding work-life balance. In addition, Wolfson is a proponent of failure as part of the success process, giving back positivity into the universe by paying it forward.
As a young adult, he was diagnosed with Bipolar Type I (previously known as Manic Depression) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). The anxiety was evident and present within his family but seldom talked about, nor did he have permission to feel sad or express any feeling besides happiness. In addition, he felt pressured to take on heavily religious activities he had no interest in; this all took a heavy toll, leading him to drink, take drugs, and music as vices.
He joined the US National Guard in high school to absolve himself of this shame. He stated that he was proud to serve a country that he loved and protected the society in which Americans live so freely, but being in the military didn’t prevent any of his problems, nor did they make them go away. As a self-starter, independent learner, and resilient survivor, he knew that he had to find it within himself if he had any hope of a resolution. Every rejection he’d faced led to something better; He said that he had found a purpose within, to help others discover a champion inside.
What started as writing would eventually become thirty titles about his experience in childhood and evolved into life coaching, helping others become confident and experienced, and now a career as a public speaker. He searches for those underdogs who struggle with business, life, and mental health and shows them the champion they have inside.
