Deborah was born into a Mennonite family and grew up in Canada. She went to Bible College after high school, which led her to leave Christianity and become an atheist — until she was recruited into Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic fundamentalist organization that aims to re-establish the Islamic Caliphate, by her new husband, and became a fully practicing, burka and hijab-wearing Muslim. Today, she is no longer a member of the group and no longer a Muslim — and the story behind it is incredible.
