Description

The writers and actors strike in Hollywood is a joint action between the Writer's Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, the actors' union, demanding higher pay and AI protections. The guilds are seeking more safeguards on how AI can be applied to screenwriting, as they fear that the use of AI could replace human writers and actors. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers has offered to annually meet with the guilds to go over definitions around the fast-evolving technology, but the guilds feel that the studios are stonewalling on the issue. AI has already filtered into nearly every part of moviemaking, and the Screen Actors Guild is closely following the evolving legal landscape around AI.
