Monday, September 18: Welcome to the second week of our Monday series as we journey into Richard Foster's "Celebration of Discipline." In this episode, we explore the profound discipline of prayer, uncovering its true essence and significance. Just as Queen's lyrics express our constant craving for more in a consumer-driven world, we often approach prayer with a desire for instant results. However, we delve into Foster's teachings, reminding us that prayer is a gateway to change, a communion with God that transforms us. Discover five essential lessons from the Bible on prayer, from patience to simplicity, and practical challenges to deepen your prayer life. Join us as we embrace prayer as a vital discipline that nurtures a lasting connection with our Heavenly Father, accessible to everyone, regardless of spiritual stature.
Challenge One: Get Biblical: Follow Richard Foster's recommended daily scripture readings and ask God to speak to you through His word.
Monday: The pattern of prayer – Matthew 6:5–15
Tuesday: The prayer of worship – Psalm 103
Wednesday: The prayer of repentance – Psalm 51
Thursday: The prayer of thanksgiving – Psalm 150
Friday: The prayer of guidance – Matthew 26:36–46
Saturday: The prayer of faith – James 5:13–18

Challenge Two: Drinking Prayer: Whenever you get a cup a coffee, glass of water, or any other drink during the day, recite the Lord's Prayer. It's a perfect 20-second prayer!
Challenge Three: Choose Three: Select three people to intentionally pray for this week. Bring them up in your conversations with God daily. If appropriate, let them know you're praying for them and share any insights you receive.
Challenge Four: Midday Prayer: Join us at noon for five minutes to pray using the Lord's Prayer as a template, pray for your church leaders, or use the Joshua Project sight to pray for unreached people.
