Description

In this episode, we take a break from the interviews for a few moments of reflection and to share some thoughts about what’s currently going on in Paul’s life.

First, Paul takes some time to reflect on the first 20 episodes of the podcast: what he’s learned, what he’s noticed and what the podcast means to him. Next, he talks about his first month-long trip. This represents a big leap for him and he shares the things he took from his experiences while abroad and being present away from the usual routines. Last, Paul talks about living with the unknown. Not an easy topic, but one that comes up frequently in the podcast interviews. Paul shares about his own uncertainty, while acknowledging the place of privilege in which his uncertainty exists. So many in this world live with frightening and life threatening uncertainties that cannot be overlooked. Tune in to hear what Paul means when he talks about what he’s learned about listening.

Paul would like to acknowledge the following people who have played an important role in his life and to thank them for all the ways they have shaped him.

Ray, whom we lost too soon just a few weeks ago. He was a good friend and will be missed. Heidi, one of my dearest and longest friends and Ray’s wife. My love goes out to you and I know how much Ray meant to you. I will see you in December and look forward to celebrating Ray’s life with you.

The new friends in the UK/England who have graciously opened up their homes to him and/or helped him to enjoy this trip abroad with meals, drinks, and so many other experiences. Thank you for the companionship, the conversations, the accommodations, the events, the advice and travel pointers and… the help with the laundry!!!

The lifelong friends in the US and abroad who have always been there, have played a role in shaping him and his life. Whether you’re one of the many long-term friends, or friends who were here for a reason/season and have since moved on, thank you for being there!

The women who have played such a critical role in shaping him. Paul acknowledges that throughout his life, it has been the women who have had the greatest impact and influence on his life’s trajectory. The powerful women in his life have been examples and reliable influences… always.
