Description

In this episode, we talk to Pete Alexander. He is humorous, dependable and finds light in the situation at hand. Pete lives in the United States.

Pete tells us about sitting on a comma after leaving his dysfunctional childhood home. As the traumatic experiences of youth eroded his sense of self, Pete found community in a support group with shared history. Being seen and understood based on his “whole story”, he experienced hope and resilience, which helped him build a life away from the chaos of his past. Tune in to hear what Pete means when he says “no child should have to deal with this”.

Pete would like to acknowledge the following individuals, organizations and/or causes that matter to him and invite you to consider supporting them and/or sharing their messages:

Adult Children of Alcoholics:  adultchildren.org  ACA is a 12 Step program that focuses on emotional sobriety. We were all profoundly affected by the dysfunction in our families of origin, whether alcohol was present in the home or not.  Consequently, we developed a set of “laundry list” traits that helped us survive that experience.  These traits may have been adaptive at the time, but have now come to substantially disrupt our lives.

The Mentoring Club: https://www.thementoringclub.org/  The Mentoring Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a mentoring community for aspiring and seasoned leaders. We believe in marrying aspiring leaders’ potentials and accomplished leaders’ experiences to make the world a better a place.

Hospice of the East Bay: https://www.hospiceeastbay.org/

Hospice East Bay is a pioneer hospice established in 1977 by community volunteers to create support for patients who wanted to die at home. Over the years, Hospice East Bay has grown to include many programs and services that are supported by our donors.
